Jim Shanahan

Jim Shanahan directs the Bank’s compliance with regulatory requirements focusing on the treasury function, derivatives transactions, liquidity investments, debt issuance and related financial management activities.  Additionally, he works with other Farm Credit System entities to coordinate regulatory and market changes that affect the Farm Credit System.  Prior to his current role in compliance at CoBank, Jim was a director in the treasury department.

Most recently, Jim has been appointed the lead for CoBank on the transition from LIBOR. In this role, Jim represents CoBank and the Farm Credit Banks on the International Swaps and Derivatives Association’s USD Benchmark Workgroup, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s Market Risk Advisory Committee and the CFTC Market Risk Advisory Committee Interest Rate Benchmark Reform Subcommittee.

Before joining CoBank, he spent 20 years in the Farm Credit System in various lending, risk management and trading positions with several banks and associations.

Jim has a B.S. in Business Administration from Colorado State University and an M.B.A. from Wichita State University.  Additionally, he holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
