Position Summary:
Performs technical transaction
processing related to negotiating, examining and
paying standby and export letters of credit. This
may include reviewing and releasing transactions for
other document specialists and/or performing
technical transaction processing related to
examining and paying standby, import and export
letters of credit; including reviewing and releasing
transactions for other document specialists on the
team. Provides high-level customer service with
particular emphasis on processing documents promptly
and without exposure to the bank. Facilitates
international trade transactions related to
Commodity Credit Corporation programs.
Knowledge and Skills:
High school diploma and 3 - 8 years experience
preferably in banking or financial services
industry; or appropriate combination of education
and experience. Certified Document Specialist
Certification (CDCS) preferred. Intermediate to
advanced knowledge of banking perspective letters of
credit negotiations, examination and payment
processing in accordance with current ICC Uniform
Customs and Practice for Documentary, International
Standard Banking Practice (ISBP) and CoBank’s
international banking standard. Intermediate to
advanced knowledge of USDA programs such as General
Sales Manager (GSM) and EXIM programs and
regulations. Basic knowledge of principles of
accounting preferred. Demonstrated tact and
persuasiveness, excellent negotiation, organization
and interpersonal, oral and written communication
skills in dealings with foreign and domestic
customers/borrowers/financial institutions. General
knowledge of personal computers and software
applications such as word processing, spreadsheets
and databases.
Other Requirements:
Must be detail-oriented. Ability to work
effectively under time constraints and changing
priorities. Knowledge of USDA exporter programs
such as General Sales Manager (GSM) and EXIM banks.
General knowledge of ICC Uniform Rules for
bank-to-bank reimbursement preferred.
